In-depth exploration of alignment in various yoga poses. Whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for years, this workshop will help you dive deeper into yoga (asana). Gain a better understanding of each pose and proper alignment. Having good alignment keeps your joints in their proper positions and produces optimal performance which helps prevent your spine, joints, and muscles from getting into problematic positions.
This 2 hour workshop will learn:
Pelvis - Important role the pelvis play in poses and what a neutral pelvis, anterior and posterior til feels like.
Spine - The activation and mobility of the spine to increase flexibility and range of motion in poses.
Shoulders - Stabilizing and understanding the internal and external rotation of the shoulder.
Meet the Instructors
This workshop is co-lead by Kelly, certified 500 hour registered yoga teacher, and when teaching she hopes for her students to find balance mentally, physically, and spiritually by providing them with a practice that they can embody in their daily lives off the mat.
Kristi VanderburgOTR/L, CHT - Kristi is an Occupational Therapist with a specialty in Upper Extremity Rehabilitation. She works with our Nations Veterans at McGuire VA Medical Center. Along with her work with veterans she is a long time yoga student. She incorporates yoga and breath work with her patients who suffer from chronic pain conditions and PTSD. She has a passion for injury prevention and proper body alignment when it come to her work as an OT and in her yoga practice. Limited spots available to provide more hands on adjustments tailor to your current alignment.
